System Software update 3.15 brings "minis" to PS3 from PSP

PSN avatar Announced officially today, Sony's new PS3 system software update 3.15 is going to bring two innovations to the console.

One is ability to play PSP "minis" on Playstation 3 - the ability was rumored about for the last months.

"Minis" are small (up to 100Mb) and cheap (up to $10) downloadable games for PSP featuring some classic titles like Tetris, Sudoku, Yeti Sports Pingu Throw, Pinball, Fieldrunners and others. The games usually have short and fun gameplay.

Users that previously purchased PSP versions of "minis" will be able to download the PS3 version free.

The games can be found in the dedicated section of the Playstation Store.

Not sure yet what the graphics of the "minis" is going to look like on PS3, as upscaling 480x272 resolution to HDTV 1080p might not work that well. But we'll find out soon enough.

Another new feature is the "Data Transfer Utility" that allows to transfer games, game saves and media content between two PS3 consoles (if you have two in your household). While games can only be "moved" (deleting the source), other content can be copied freely.
