Orb

Last version released:  2.50.0185

Full version price and licensing: free

Formats and codecs supported:
Depends on set of codecs preinstalled on the PC.

Summary:
Similar to Jinzora, Orb is not DLNA/UPnP based so PS3 will not recognize it as a media server.
You access it using the web built-in PS3 web browser, while Orb serves as a file server streaming the content from your PC. But while Jinzora requires pre-installation of webserver with PHP support, Orb is pretty much self-contained, no additional software is required for it to work.
Nevertheless, types of files it can stream depend on the set of codecs you have installed on your PC, it does not do any decoding/transcoding by itself. Basically anything you can play on your PC - you should be able to stream.

Our take:
It is a nice solution if you want to be able to access you content outside your local home network, from anywhere in the world.
