Now it is official: Playstation Blog announced that next firmware upgrade (3.10) will bring integration with Facebook in it.

Merging your PS3 and Facebook accounts will make it possible to feed your Facebook News with Trophies and PS Store activity. And, of course,  on the PS3 side Facebook (as other social networking websites) is already accessible from the PS3 browser.

It is not clear yet what other features this integration is going to bring.

This is one more step bringing new changes expected from Sony on PS3 in the next few weeks. One of them is the expansion of Sony's VOD services for PS3 and introduction of TV channels.
